Ortho / Neuro Unit: This newly remodeled 25 private bed unit is committed to providing the highest quality, compassionate care to total joint; general orthopedics; spine and neurosurgery patients. We are a highly engaged team, with a dedicated orthopedic coordinator that collaborates with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and we take a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

• General Orthopedic skills: dressing changes, post operative ambulation, brace application, ect.
• Wound vac care, IV therapy and medications
• Pre-op and Post-op care for ortho/neuro/spine patients

Unit Successes/Designations:

• Healthgrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award 2023
• Previously held Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement and Hip Fracture Certification by the Joint Commission for over 10 years.
• Lead all inpatient units in meeting the goal of decreased Length of Stay.

Unit Culture:

• Fast paced
• Quick turnaround times
• Collaborative care with physical therapy, case management team, social work, hospitalist, and Surgeons along with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
